Cochiti Lake is a small community of about 450 people in 200 homes
conveniently located between Santa Fe (25 minutes) and Albuquerque (35
minutes). It is built on a mesa overlooking the Rio Grande and Cochiti Lake
and commands some of the best views in the state with the Sandia Mountains
to the South East, the Jemez mountains to the North West and the Bajada
escarpment to the North and East. The activities are many: boating, fishing,
golf, hiking, biking, ghost towns, Kasha Katuwe Tent Rocks and native
culture. Cochiti Lake sits on land that is leased by the Cochiti Pueblo who
also manages the golf course and small shopping center. The town has its own
fire department, town hall and library.
